When searching for Career Coaches:
Some of the most prestigious certifications career coaches can seek out are the Master Certified Coach (MCC), Professional Certified Coach (PCC), and Associate Certified Coach (ACC) certifications.
When searching for Life Coaches:
Two life coach certifications to look for in your search for a life coach are Certified Professional Coach (CPC) and Energy Leadership Index Master Practitioner certifications. While not the only certifications available, they're two of the most popular.

General coaching certifications to look out for:
International Coaching Federation (ICF) accredited programs are among the most respected programs for coaches to pursue and are considered the golden standard of the coaching industry. If you see that a coach has been certified by an ICF accredited course, you can be confident that they are reputable.
Coaches who have have joined the ICF will also appear in their directory of highly qualified coaches for those of you who are interested in or in the middle of a coaching search.
iPEC certifications are also high quality training programs that have been vetted by the ICF. Additionally, the Coaches Training Institute (CTI) and Coach U are very respectable organizations where coaches can begin or pursue further coaching certifications.
While knowing and understanding coaching certifications are an easy way of weeding out coaching scams, they aren't the only method of determining a coach's value. Work experience and past clients are also good things to look at when hiring a career coach, life coach, health coach, or any other type of professional. You can also try trusted marketplaces like Ace-up, where only vetted coaches and professionals are featured.
